Part-Time Librarian

Description

Maintains the college library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials, and assists groups and individuals in locating, obtaining and using materials. Furnishes information on library activities, facilities, rules, and services. May require a master's degree in library science and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all facets of the daily operations of the library, ensuring compliance with company directives, state and federal laws, policy, and regulations
  • Oversee the direction of assigned personnel, including work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluate performance and make recommendations for personnel actions; motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance
  • Ensure data is entered into company designated computer system to record employees, equipment inventory, and book inventory and compliance activity
  • Participate in the development and management of the library annual operating budget
  • Review, evaluate, and select material for library collection development, serve as a liaison to teaching facility on books to have available
  • Ensure that magazine, journal, and other periodical subscriptions are appropriate to the programs of study and are renewed in a timely manner
  • Maintain reference section that is current and meets the needs of all academic programs
  • Employ ethical library management standards which meet all regulatory, agency, and company standards
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a comparable program; or state certification to work as a librarian required
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible related experience in a library setting
  • Knowledge of library functions including cataloging, bibliographic instruction, use of Internet, use of online databases, and ability to provide reference services 
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of library science and technology and their application to use of reference tools, book selection criteria and methodology, and common library resources
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures of the library and applicable state, federal and local laws, rules and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional service to students, faculty and associates 
  • Knowledge of publishing and resources for library materials; methods and techniques of research, statistical analysis and report presentation
  •  Proficient skills and experience in Microsoft Office computer software systems that includes word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software

Learning Resource Systems Coordinator

Description

Responsible for managing the learning resource facility, equipment, and resources to further support student and campus academic needs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Consistently review, purge, update, and recommend resources to insure they are effective, meet our academic needs and are appropriate for the students.
  • Develop and maintain an accurate and effective tracking system which provides for and holds users accountable for the use of the books, periodicals, reference materials and equipment.
  • Oversee the use, maintenance, and adequacy of the resource center equipment and supplies.
  • Offer support and services to students utilizing the resource center facility including a new student orientation.
  • Creatively present new information and resources to students, faculty and staff on a consistent basis.
  • Responsible for overall neatness and aesthetic appearance of resource center.
  • Continuously research related industries to better supply appropriate resources for students and in support of Mt. Sierra College course offerings.
  • Train Resource Center Staff to ensure excellent customer service and professionalism is extended to all current and prospective students, as well as to the staff and faculty.
  • Coordinate and facilitate entrance testing for prospective students.
  • Coordinate and support additional campus activities and special events.
  • Schedule Faculty Assistants.
  • Develop a learning center environment by offering tutorial materials for students.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned.

Adjunct Technology Instructor

Description

Teaching technology related courses in networking and systems administration

Responsibilities

Teach to educational objectives, using multiple methods to engage the students, including presentation skills and practicum pertinent to the coursework so that students achieve the desired learning outcomes. Advise students in the area of the coursework. Review student progress and success in the class and recommend appropriate tutoring or other assistance. Assist the Dean of Student Services in retention efforts as needed, including participation in student life activities. Participate in on-going curricular and program review in conjunction with the department chair and faculty. Maintain current knowledge in field by participating in extracurricular workshops, seminars, training, etc

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 8 years industry experience
  • With Bachelor's degree, at least 4 years or more experience in computer and network systems

  • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator [MCSA] certification

Description

The primary role of the Admissions Representative is to selectively prospect, interview, recommend and enroll individuals into a qualified career-focused Mt. Sierra College education and guide the prospect through the enrollment completion process

High School Outreach Recruiter

Description

Self-motivated, organized, and enthusiastic individual to serve as a full-time Admissions Representative/Recruiter for local high schools. The Admissions Representative/Recruiter will assist in the development and implementation of student recruitment and outreach program designed to meet enrollment goals. The High School Admissions Representative/Recruiter will report directly to the Director of Admissions.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and devise the College's recruitment from local high schools.
  • Conduct calls to prospective students and parents as well as high schools.
  • Set appointments, conduct interviews and enroll students.
  • Advise students and parents of requirements for admission.
  • Create a base of high school student prospects who may be interested in College's Bachelors Degree programs.
  • Program community and student events for the College.
  • Assist in marketing and promotion of the College.
  • Assess, respond, and relate to the needs and concerns of prospective students and parents.
  • Develop constructive relationships with prospective students and their families as well as high school counselors, teachers, principals, alumni, and other constituents.
  • Schedule and document visits to various events, including school sites and community display events, for entire staff.
  • Write and at times present reports pertaining to outreach and recruitment activities.
  • Communicate College's admissions requirements, program offerings, basic financial aid requirements and regulations.
  • Participate in developing departmental goals and expected outcomes as part of institutional effectiveness measures relative to the College's mission, vision and values; and the College-wide student learning outcomes. Monitor progress and report on outcomes.
  • Develop innovative ideas that address the needs of these and other markets to improve recruitment and outreach efforts.
Requirements
  • Successful experience as an Admissions Representative/Recruiter for an educational institution.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Computer literacy including experience with MS Office Software and Outlook.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors Degree.
